Dinesh Chandimal undergoes surgery

Dinesh Chandimal, Sri Lanka’s wicket keeper - batsman, has undergone a surgery after injuring his hand in a domestic game last week.   Chandimal returned home on Monday (September 19) following the surgery, but the injury has cast doubts over his presence for Sri Lanka’s major tour of South Africa later this year. Sri Lankan team is scheduled to play three Tests, three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals in South Africa, with the first Test starting on December 26 in Port Elizabeth.   Prior to that tour, the island nation are also scheduled to visit Zimbabwe in October and November. Sri Lanka Cricket will take a decision on his availability for the tours after he undergoes a few more tests. The 26-year-old recently led Sri Lanka in the final ODI and the T20I series against Australia at home in the absence of regular skipper Angelo Mathews. He scored 236 runs in the ODI series and is viewed as his side’s lynchpin in the batting department after the retirements of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. Source- Cricbuzz
